Le isole vulcaniche sono lava solidificata.

A me piace pensare che sotto ad ognuna di esse ci sia una specie di condotto che va dritto al mantello, lo strato del nostro pianeta formato da magma più o meno solido, e che tutti questi condotti formino una specie di reticolo di radici che tengono le isole collegate tra loro anche a centinaia di miglia di distanza.

Penso che le isole vulcaniche siano anche stelle comete al contrario, corpi che si sono staccati dal centro della terra, con la loro scia di magma fuso, per finire in mezzo al mare. Forse è per questo che sono tutte simili tra loro, perché sono fatte della stessa materia, e portano dentro di sé la stessa energia e gli stessi sogni...

Dicono che i vulcani abbiano effetti magnetici. Le rocce che formano gli edifici vulcanici contengono una grande quantità di minerali magnetici che possono generare dei campi talmente forti da compromettere il funzionamento stesso delle bussole.

Ci sono persone che hanno diversi tipi e gradi di sensibilità... io penso di avere una forte sensibilità al magnetismo di queste rocce vulcaniche. Ho fotografato diverse isole vulcaniche italiane e in tutte ho trovato gli stessi colori, vegetazioni, animali e persone, creando nella mia testa una piacevole confusione. Quando sono su un'isola, spesso mi dimentico su quale mi trovo, mi confondo, mi sembra di essere anche su un'altra isola, in un continuo gioco di déjà vu e rimandi.

Le isole vulcaniche italiane che ho fotografato sono Capraia, Linosa, Lipari, Pantelleria, Ponza, Procida, Stromboli, Ustica, Ventotene. Qui presento una selezione delle foto che ho scattato su di esse nel corso degli ultimi sette anni.

Volcanic islands are solidified lava.

I like to think that under each of them there is a kind of conduit that goes straight to the mantle, the layer of our planet made up of magma, and that all these conduits form a kind of network, of roots, which keep the islands connected one to each other even thousands of miles apart.

I think that volcanic islands are also comet stars in reverse, bodies that have detached themselves from the center of the earth, with their trail of molten magma, to end up in the middle of the sea. Perhaps this is why they are all similar to each other, because they are made of the same material, and carry the same energy and the same dreams...

It's said that volcanoes are magnetic. The rocks, which form the volcanic buildings, contain a large quantity of magnetic minerals which can generate strong forces that compromise the true functioning of the compass. People have different suggestions and levels of sensitivity... I think I have a strong sensitivity to the magnetism of these volcanic rocks. I have photographed many Italian volcanic islands and in all of them I have found the same colours, vegetation, animals and people, creating a pleasant confusion in my head. When I'm on an island, I often forget which one I'm on, I get confused, sometimes I think I am on another island, in a continuous game of déjà vu.

The Italian volcanic islands I photographed are: Capraia, Linosa, Lipari, Pantelleria, Ponza, Procida, Stromboli, Ustica, Ventotene. Here I introduce a selection of the pictures I have taken on them over the last seven years.
